The
Department of Economics at the Universidad del Pacifico invites applications to fulfill 3 tenure-track or tenured positions in Macroeconomics (2) and Microeconomics (1), expected to start in August 1, 2025.

Summary of the Position
Successful candidates are expected to conduct outstanding research in economics in their areas of expertise and teach 4 undergraduate level courses per year (could be in 2 subjects), covering topics ranging from basic to advanced economics. Teaching at the graduate level is also possible and provides an additional source of income. Candidates will advise students in our undergraduate program and are expected to engage in activities that support the Economics department and the university. The position offers a competitive salary, a budget for participation in academic conferences and training, a research assistant funded by the university, bonuses for publications, opportunities to apply for internal research grants, and a family health insurance package.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Conduct research in economics in their areas of expertise
• Teach four courses per year, in either English or Spanish.
• Engage in service activities for the department.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

• Teaching evaluations.
• Two letters of recommendation (can be sent directly by the supervisors).
The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to the department’s microeconomics or macroeconomics research and courses. The ideal candidate will be also able to contribute when required to one or more of the department’s core courses in macroeconomics, statistics, econometrics, or microeconomics.

Review of applications will begin on January 15. For full consideration, applications should be received by April 15, 2025.
Stages in the selection process:
1. The Academic Chair of the selection committee verifies that the application package is complete.
2. The pre-selected candidate is interviewed by the recruiting committee.
3. The selected candidate makes an academic presentation in a Seminar session with the faculty from the departments of Economics and Finance (in person or online).
4. The candidate delivers a short mock class (10-15 min.) in economics (microeconomics or macroeconomics) that combines theory and applications to a panel of educators and professors from the departments of economics and finance.
