Graduates of Economics participated in the ‘National Youth Parliament’ program
March 27 , 2017

They had the opportunity to learn about the parliamentary activity and exchange experiences with young people from all over the country.

INVOLVED WITH THE COUNTRY. Universidad del Pacífico (UP) graduates of the Economics program, Walter Ibarra and Gustavo Arana, are an example of how young people are increasingly interested in seeing the work done in the National Parliament.

They actively participated in the 'National Youth Parliament' program organized each year by the Congress in order to strengthen the youth political leadership capacities and contribute to institutional strengthening.

During this year, 26 Departmental Youth Parliaments were held, corresponding to the 26 electoral districts of Peru (24 departments, Lima Provinces and the Constitutional Province of Callao).

130 young people from 10,000 applicants were selected to participate in the National Youth Parliament, among them our alumni Ibarra and Arana. The dynamics of the activities consisted of grouping them in commissions to discuss bills on education, women, decentralization and work for the benefit of the youth community.

The bills passed by the 'National Youth Parliament' will be presented to the legislators to be supported in the respective Congressional committees in order that they be approved by the Plenary. ---

During the three-day national meeting they had the opportunity to experience and value the work done in the Congress within a space of participation and promotion of democratic values.

The outstanding young people exhorted the students of all the UP programs to be part of the 2018 edition of the aforementioned program and take advantage of the valuable opportunity to learn about how the political activity in our country develops.
