Two professors from the Academic Department of Humanities at the Universidad del Pacífico, Carlos Gatti Murriel and Jorge Wiesse Rebagliati, have been distinguished as Honorary Members of the Società Dantesca Italiana.
Founded in 1888, this institution is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of the work of Dante Alighieri, one of the most important figures in Italian literature and language. The award reflects the academic trajectory and contribution of both academics to studying the legacy of the famous Italian writer. Notably, Carlos Gatti, professor emeritus of the university, has dedicated his career to teaching and research in the humanities. For his part, Jorge Wiesse has carried out outstanding work in the promotion of Italian literature and humanist thought. Through their research, publications, and teaching work, the two scholars have contributed significantly to the understanding and appreciation of Dante's legacy in the academic and cultural field. In addition, they have fostered excellence in the teaching of the humanities as well as critical thinking. The Universidad del Pacífico congratulates its professors for this important distinction, which rewards their dedication and contribution to the study of Italian literature and culture.
