Full-time professor researcher at Universidad del Pacífico Academic Department of Engineering. Graduated in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Católica de Santa María, MSc in Electronic Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) with a major in decision support methods using applied computational intelligence. Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) with a major in signal processing, control and automation. He has experience in oil, energy and business research projects. He has led research centers in Brazil, dealt with projects on exploration and oil exploitation and characterization of oil reservoirs using computational intelligence techniques. In addition, he has experience in research projects carried out in Rio de Janeiro on risk management in the energy purchase contracts.
Alvaro Talavera was main researcher at the Applied Computational Intelligence (ACI) Lab at PUC-Rio, researcher at the Group of Technology and Petroleum Engineering (GTEP) in Rio de Janeiro. Project consultant through PUC-Rio ACI to Petrobras S.A. in the area of reservoir management, and to the electric power distribution company in Rio de Janeiro, Light S.A. He also worked as project engineer for Servicio de Armas y Electrónica (SAE, Weapons and Electronic Services) at Servicio Industrial de la Marina SIMA S.A. (Navy’s Industrial Services SIMA S.A.).
