Professional Profile
Dr. Yamada is Vice President for Research at the Universidad del Pacífico, Full Professor in the Academic Department of Economics, and Member of the Research Center at the Universidad del Pacífico. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University (New York, United States) and a Licentiate in Economics from the Universidad del Pacífico.
His scientific research on labor economics, poverty, education, and social policies in Peru and abroad has been published in the form of papers, books, and book chapters, placing him among the top five percent of researchers in the world in the accredited rankings of publications and academic references. He is a Research Fellow at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics in Bonn, Germany.
He has been Director of the Research Center and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Finance at the Universidad del Pacífico, as well as Deputy Minister of Social Promotion within the Ministry of Labor, Member of the Board of Directors of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, Senior Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank, Fiscal Economist at the International Monetary Fund, a Member of the National Board of Education of Peru, and Director of the Instituto Peruano de Acción Empresarial. In addition, Dr. Yamada has been awarded the Order of Labor of Peru at the rank of Commander, is Member of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association and the Peruvian Economic Association, and is an Associate Member of Fe y Alegría in Peru.
