He is a main lecturer at Universidad del Pacífico and member of its Research Center. He was the editor of the magazine Apuntes from 1996-1999 and Head of the Academic Department of Economics from 1997 to 2001. He worked as a member of the Board for the Protection of Competition at the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) from 2002 to 2006. He is author, co-author and editor of several publications in his main areas of expertise such as macroeconomics and monetary theory, economic history, political economy, growth and development, international economics and economic cycles. He holds a PhD in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has a Master of Arts and doctoral studies in economics from the University of Rochester; and a BA in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico.
