Direct Entry for Baccalaureate Graduates

  • Aimed at

    Students in the final year of the International Baccalaureate or post-secondary education (French, German or Italian Baccalaureate), or graduates from 2015 onwards​.

  • Evaluation

    The evaluation of applicants is done based on the following aspects:

    • Essay: Applicants need to write a short essay on a topic provided by the University. Such essay will be assessed for topic knowledge and writing skills. It will be submitted online​.
  • Benefits

    • Direct entry to Universidad del Pacífico (see requirements for entry confirmation).
    • Admissions enabling students to start classes in the first or second semester of each year.
    • Course validation and exoneratio​n.

  • Application Requirements
    • Not having obtained a “Not Selected” result in any of the Admission Routes for Universidad del Pacífico. 
    • Not having been expelled from Universidad del Pacífico or any other university​.
  • How to Register in this Admission Route
    1. ​​​​​​​Register in the UP Web Portal (up.edu.pe/portalUP​)​​ as a 5th year secondary student.
    2. With your username and password, log onto the ​​​UP Portal and register in the Direct Entry for Baccalaureate Graduates under the Online Application tab​. 
    3. Complete the personal information form and upload the requested documentation. 
    4. Pay the admission fee on the UP Portal or in any of the authorized banks nationwide.

  • Documents necessary for registration

    ​​​​

    • Applicant’s valid identity card (DNI). Foreign nationals need to submit their Carné de Extranjería or valid passport​.
    • Report Card, Transcript or Certificate of grades from 1st to 4th years of secondary school, and the terms completed in 5th year at the moment of registration as an applicant; school graduates should submit the School Transcript from 1st to 5th year.
    • High-quality, carnet-sized color front photograph (wearing dark clothing, on a white background, not wearing glasses or hats), in JPG format. The photograph should be from a photographic studio and should be at most one month old at the moment of registration​​​.
    • Essay: Applicants need to write a short essay on a topic provided by the University. Such essay will be assessed for topic knowledge and writing skills. It will be submitted online.
    • Certificate of Studies and Certificate of Baccalaureate Grades: graduates should submit their Baccalaureate Program Diploma. Applicants who did not obtain the diploma should submit a Certificate of Grades certifying a score equal to or above 28. Graduates who obtained a score between 24 and 27 will undergo an additional evaluation process*.

    *The process of additional evaluation consists of the review of final grades attained by the interested party, and an interview​.

    Once the documents have been approved by the Admissions Office, applicants will be considered “Selected”.  Later, selected applicants should start the procedure of entry confirmation to be considered “Admitted Applicants” to the University​.​​

  • Requirements and documents necessary for entry confirmation
      ​​​​
      • A photocopy of the applicant's DNI, Carné de Extranjería or valid passport (on both sides).
      • Carnet-sized color front photograph (dark clothes, white background, not wearing glasses or hats), and less than six months old.
      • English language certificate recognized by the University, both the original and a hard copy (Optional)​*.
      • School Transcript from 1st to 5th years of secondary school.
      • Certificate issued by the school certifying that the applicant obtained the International Baccalaureate Program, or post-secondary education, Diploma.
      • Certificate of Grades of the International Baccalaureate or post-secondary education program, signed and sealed by the school's representative.

    *The list of English Certificates accepted by the University can be found in the Successful Applicant Guide, on the UP Portal. Applicants who do not hold such certificate at the moment of entry confirmation may submit it at any point during their studies at the Academic Services and Records (SAR) Office. They may also sit the English proficiency examination from the Universidad del Pacífico Language Center on the dates appearing on the Successful Applicant Guide​.
  • Course Validation and Exoneration Policies

    Validation and Exoneration: International Baccalaureate

    Admitted applicants in the Direct Entry for Baccalaureate Graduates route who obtained the International Baccalaureate Program Diploma may request validation of the subjects Nivelación en Matemáticas (Remedial Mathematics) and Nivelación en Lenguaje (Remedial Spanish Language), provided that they have attained the minimal scores stated in the validation tables. For this purpose, admitted applicants should enclose a print copy of the results published on the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) website, duly sealed by the school of origin, at the moment of carrying out the entry confirmation.

    Validation is granted automatically. In the event that an Admitted Applicant prefers not to validate said remedial courses, the Admissions Office should be notified at the moment of entry confirmation.

    In addition, Admitted Applicants in this admission route may sit exams to be exonerated from the following subjects: Mathematics I, Spanish Language I and General Economics I. To sit these exams, the student needs to have previously had Remedial Mathematics or Remedial Spanish Language validated, meeting the required scores.

    Validation: Post-Secondary Education (French, German or Italian Baccalaureate)

    Students who have pursued post-secondary studies should state, at the moment of entry confirmation, the subjects they wish to have validated (only Remedial Mathematics and Remedial Spanish Language), enclose the syllabi of the equivalent subjects and the results attained. The requested information will be reviewed in order to grant the corresponding validation.

    Documents issued in a language other than Spanish should have a Traducción Oficial (Official Translation) into Spanish and be provided with scores in a vigesimal scale (from 0 to 20).​

  • Important Notices
    1. All documents issued in a language different from Spanish should have an Official Translation (Traducción Oficial) into Spanish. 
    2. Applicants who studied secondary school abroad need to have their School Transcripts validated by the Peruvian Ministry of Education. 
    3. Under no circumstances will applicants be allowed to change their chosen course or admission route.
    4. The process of additional evaluation consists of the review of final grades attained by the interested party, and an interview. As a result of this process, the Admissions Council will decide whether to authorize the confirmation of the interested party as an "Admitted Applicant" to the University.

    6. An applicant will be considered an “Admitted Applicant” and will be entitled to a place at the University on meeting the following requirements:
            - Being selected in the evaluation process of Direct Entry for Baccalaureate Graduates.
            - Submitting all the original documents for entry confirmation at the Admissions Office within the established deadline.​
