Dr. Chavez is President of the Universidad del Pacífico, Full Professor in the Academic Department of Accounting, and Member of the Research Center at the Universidad del Pacífico. She holds a Doctorate in Accounting and Business Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Peru, as well as a Magister in Administration and a Licentiate in Accounting from the Universidad del Pacífico.

Dr. Chavez has been Dean of the Faculty of Business Sciences, Deputy Dean of Accounting, and Head of the Academic Department of Accounting at the Universidad del Pacífico.
Her experience has centered on financial accounting and issues related to accountability. Other past roles include President of the Admissions Board, Member of the Honor Court, and Accountant and Member of the Budget and the Scholarship and Welfare committees at the Universidad del Pacífico.
